If you are caring for an infirm parent or adult family member, you may be eligible for the Caregiver Credit. This credit is available to Canadians who support an adult family member who is dependent on you because of an impairment in physical or mental functions. The benefit from claiming this credit will decrease as the dependant’s income increases, with a maximum benefit of $2,192 being available if the dependant has income of less than $16,766. However, if the dependant’s taxable income is more than $29,038 in 2019 (excluding AISH), the credit is unavailable.
