The Government Of Alberta has announced the Stabilize Live Music Grant program, which is designed to help rebuild and reopen live experiences once public health guidelines allow.

Who is eligible?

The grants are available to:

- Musicians
- Live music professionals
- For-profit music venues

How much money does the grant provide?

Successful recipients will be awarded amounts dependent upon their business or profession, ranging from $1500 to $25,000.

  • The Individual Micro Grant - This program is designed to provide financial assistance to artists and professionals in the Alberta music industry who have been adversely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Individuals may apply for one-time partial, or complete funding of a project or initiative up to a maximum of $1,500. These funds are intended to support innovative creation, education, promotion, and management projects and artist’s businesses that fall within the scope of the music industry.
  • The Music Business Innovation Micro Grant - This program is designed to provide one-time funding to live music venues and other music industry businesses who have incurred financial losses due to the COVID-19 global pandemic. This program supports projects that aim to sustain venues and businesses during the pandemic and innovative initiatives, platforms, and services that address the needs of Alberta’s music industry. This program encourages creativity in business and the fostering, protection, and creation of jobs within the music sector in Alberta.

When can I apply?

The Alberta government is partnering with Alberta Music to administer the grant, with eligible applicants being able to apply through the association's website, starting May 17, 2021.

Does the funding have a limit?

Yes. Grants will only be awarded until the $2,000,000 in allocated funding has been dispersed.
